  1. I am cub scout committee chair and we have about 2 weeks to finish planning blue and gold banquet. We do not have a guest coming but I would like one. We are doing the litter to glitter theme in the form of survivor. Is it too late to find a guest to come to do something with that theme? What ideas do you have?

    1. Allen, obviously it is way too late to answer this question for you for your Blue and Gold (sorry - we dropped the ball and for a period of time, nobody was taking care of this blog). I'd love to hear what you came up with. Love the theme and your plans!

Some suggestions for next year's Blue and Gold:
      1. Start planning it in October this year. When the holidays hit, it's hard to think Blue and Gold and by the time they're over, it's almost too late. Set the date, get a budget and keep to the budget, and start preliminary plans for who's in charge of what.
      2. Arrange a speaker that works and then work the theme around the speaker's strengths if you want a speaker. However, a fun Blue and Gold really does not need a guest speaker.
      3. Use the boys as much as possible with everything from making invitations to helping prepare the decorations and table settings. Parents can help with providing food for this, as well.
      4. Of course, there are thousands of resources available on line to help with identifying great themes, decorations, menus, etc., to use for your own Blue and Gold. But your committee can also be amazingly creative. Use them first, and then go on line if you're stumped.

Good luck with Blue and Gold 2015. It would be fun to hear about everyone's great ideas! We could create a page here just for Blue and Gold success/failure stories as another resource!

    1. KSL classifieds, facebook yardsale pages, older scouts in your own unit that don't want their uniforms anymore. I've been told over the years that scout uniforms go very fast at Utah thrift stores. If you ever travel to another state check out thrift stores there. OR, if you have family that don't live in Utah ask them to check their thrift stores.
